Focus and Scope

Jurnal Bedah PABI – The Indonesian Journal of Surgery, published by the Indonesian General Surgeons Society (Perhimpunan Ahli Bedah Indonesia – PABI), is a peer-reviewed, open-access scientific journal that publishes high-quality manuscripts in all areas of surgery. The journal aims to advance surgical science and improve clinical practice through evidence-based research, innovation in surgical techniques, and the development of surgical services, with a particular emphasis on Indonesia and other developing countries.

The journal covers a wide range of surgical disciplines, including general, digestive, oncologic, vascular, hepatobiliary, colorectal, thoracic, trauma, pediatric, and emergency surgery, as well as surgical education. It accepts original research articles, systematic reviews and meta-analyses, narrative and comprehensive reviews, case reports and case series, technical notes, innovative ideas, and letters to the editor. Manuscripts addressing clinical outcomes, translational research, health systems, and surgical service strengthening are particularly encouraged.

Scope of the Journal

    Diseases and surgical management of the esophagus, stomach, small and large intestines, colon, rectum, pancreas, liver, and biliary tract.
  • Surgical Oncology
    Surgical management of benign and malignant tumors, multidisciplinary cancer care, and evaluation of oncologic outcomes.
  • Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery
    Surgical management of disorders involving the lungs, mediastinum, chest wall, heart, and peripheral vascular system.
  • Orthopaedic and Musculoskeletal Surgery
    Trauma care, degenerative disorders, reconstructive procedures, and musculoskeletal oncology.
  • Urology and Andrology Surgery
    Surgical management of diseases of the urinary tract and male reproductive system.
  • Plastic, Reconstructive, and Burn Surgery
    Reconstructive and aesthetic procedures, soft tissue and wound reconstruction, and comprehensive burn management.
  • Trauma, Emergency, and Surgical Infection
    Acute care surgery, management of surgical infections, sepsis, trauma-related conditions, and complex wound care
  • Neurosurgery
    Surgical management of disorders affecting the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves, and related structures, including trauma, tumors, and congenital conditions.
  • Pediatric Surgery
    Surgical care of infants, children, and adolescents, including congenital malformations, tumors, trauma, and minimally invasive procedures.
