Publication Ethics

  • (In accordance with COPE and ICMJE Guidelines)

    Jurnal Bedah PABI - The Indonesian Journal of Surgery applies ethical standards in scholarly publishing in accordance with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).

    1. Duties of Authors

    Authors must ensure that:

    • The manuscript is original, has not been previously published, and is not under review by another journal.
    • All listed authors fulfill the ICMJE authorship criteria and have made substantial contributions to the study, manuscript preparation, and approval of the final version.
    • The manuscript is written in clear scientific English.
    • The data presented are accurate, reliable, and honestly reported, without fabrication, falsification, or inappropriate manipulation.
    • Research involving human participants or animals has obtained approval from an authorized Ethics Committee, and the approval number is stated in the manuscript.
    • All sources are properly cited, and any conflicts of interest (financial or non-financial) are clearly disclosed.
    • All authors have submitted a Statement of Originality and Authorship Agreement.
    1. Duties of Editors

    Editors are responsible for:

    • Making publication decisions based on scientific quality, originality, clarity, and relevance to the journal’s scope.
    • Ensuring a fair, unbiased, and confidential double-blind peer review process.
    • Evaluating manuscripts without discrimination based on authors’ background or institutional affiliation.
    • Maintaining the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and reviewer information.
    • Addressing suspected ethical misconduct in accordance with COPE guidelines.
    1. Duties of Reviewers

    Reviewers must:

    • Review manuscripts objectively, constructively, and in a timely manner.
    • Maintain confidentiality of all manuscript-related information.
    • Identify relevant references that have not been cited by the authors.
    • Declare any conflicts of interest and decline review when necessary.
    • Refrain from using unpublished material for personal or professional benefit.
    1. Plagiarism and Research Misconduct

    All manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection software. Plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, falsification, or other unethical practices will result in rejection or retraction, following COPE procedures.

    1. Copyright and Licensing

    Copyright of articles published in this journal is held by the publisher. Permission from the publisher is required for reproduction, distribution, translation, or creation of derivative works.

    1. Handling of Complaints and Appeals

    Complaints, appeals, and ethical concerns are handled fairly and transparently in accordance with COPE guidelines. Corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern will be issued when necessary.
